"Gear" describes the items in The Kingdom's ecosystem that can be equipped directly to an Avatar, such as weapons or armor. Equipping gear increases an Avatar's Gear Score and affects its silver generation rate.
In this initial phase of The Kingdom, all gear is off-chain. However, it can be transferred between accounts if a minted Avatar with the gear equipped is sent to a new wallet on-chain.
Eventually, gear will be able to be minted on-chain.
In the pre-game-release phase, gear is broken down into the following categories:
Helm Armor
Upper Body Armor
Lower Body Armor
Ancillary Item
Weapons
In later updates, there will be new ways to customize your Avatar’s gear load-outs.
Weapons are split between one-handed and two-handed weapons. One-handed weapons are either left—or right-handed.
Two-handed weapons have 1.7x the value of one-handed weapons. This creates a trade-off between needing less gear per avatar and receiving less overall score.
Each piece of gear has an associated Gear Score. Rarity is a general indicator of Gear Score and scarcity, but there is some nuance in Gear Score values between collections and specific pieces.
Here are the rarities from rarest to least rare:
Mythic
Legendary
Epic
Rare
Uncommon
Common
Mythical Armaments are the rarest gear, restricted to only one complete set for each of the 7 races. Once Tales of Aesor launches, only a few will be released per season.
Any “Mythic” tier gear acquired by players before the game's launch should be understood as a game piece that can eventually be used to “craft” a Mythical Armament, not a fully formed Mythical Armament.
However, these Mythic rarity pieces, even if not yet the "1 of 1" mythical armaments, will still carry the highest gear score of 70.
Gear doesn't differ just in rarity but also in quality. Gear has 4 different tiers of quality, which affect gear score. Currently, all gear in the ecosystem is the top quality (pristine), to reward those early adopters of the project. The remaining three tiers of quality will be introduced with Roro Chests and the Gen2 mint. Gear quality like rarity is a benchmark, and there will be nuance in its effect between gear collections.
Part of The Kingdom's ecosystem strategy involves creating unique gear inspired by the IP of our closest partners. The first cross-IP collection will feature ten complete sets of Gear (armor and weapons) inspired by our partner Neo Tokyo.
Here are examples of the Neo Tokyo gear that will be the first collection of cross-IP gear to go live!
Gear Score is the only property affecting Silver Generation, and the only currency Avatars are producing at this stage.
Once Tales of Aesor and WarFronts are released, all gear will be usable in-game, and other properties will become active.
Note that the gear's current attribute modifiers are subject to change, and weapon properties are meant only to represent the in-game weapons.
Gear can be obtained in many ways with the goal of creating a fair environment where players of all types have a shot at achieving the rarest gear.
Here are some examples of how to obtain gear:
Purchasing chests and opening them to reveal the gear
Community Questing Series (Series 2 is currently ongoing)
Through community events, game nights, tournaments, and flash giveaways.
Minting Avatars and receiving Starter Gear
Purchasing Avatars with equipped gear on secondary.
Minting avatars means receiving starter gear. Each generation of Avatars has lower odds than the prior of receiving the rarest gear.
At some point after the release of Tales of Aesor, Starter Gear will be redeemable for in-game gear of the same rarity.
Every Avatar comes with Starter Pants, which are locked to the Avatar. Starter Pants are purely cosmetic and have no gear score; however, their color can be changed to suit a player's taste.
Reward gear is acquired through participating in or winning community events or competitions. The most frequent source of this gear is through the Community Rewards Series prizes, but Gear is also periodically included in other incentive programs or giveaways.
Founders Chests are an on-chain collection of chests that contain 1-3 weapons each. The in-game races on Aesor inspire the weapons in these Chests.
Roro Chests are an unlimited off-chain collection of chests that can contain armor inspired by the world of Aesor or other in-ecosystem assets such as Silver and rerolls.
Cross-IP gear comes from Cross-IP chests, and has unique art inspired by partner projects but otherwise functions the same as other kinds of gear. Cross-IP gear will always be of pristine quality.
